We offer Long Term Disability insurance through UNUM, who serves more than 36 million people with their life, disability, and other benefits. Benefits are based on your income, age, and if you are receiving any other benefits such as Social Security, Workers’ Compensation income, and certain other disability or income benefits.
Eligibility
You must work at least 30 hours or more for the Cumberland Presbyterian Church and be actively employed to enroll. Each presbytery has the latitude to define the eligible full-time employees to be covered. Please check with your presbytery to see who is eligible to join the program. The program is a non-contributory plan, thus the presbytery as the employer must pay the participant’s premiums. The following Presbyteries are presently listed as participating in the program. Arkansas, Covenant, Trinity, Murfreesboro, Nashville, del Cristo, Red River, Missouri, Robert Donnell, Columbia, Cumberland, East Tennessee, West Tennessee, and North Central.
Benefits
The monthly benefit you may receive is 60% of your salary up to a maximum benefit of $5,000 per month and there is a 180 day elimination period before benefits are payable. Benefit duration will be reduced beginning at age 62. Please refer to the Summary for more detailed information on benefits.
